Michael Beale not done yet as he drops Rangers squad update

Michael Beale was clear from early on that Rangers were going to have a big turnaround of players this summer.

The Gers gaffer has brought in 10 players since arriving as manager with Jose Cifuentes expected to make that 11.

Only Antonio Colak has been sold so far though and Michael Beale has to start to make a dent into the outlay and trim his Rangers squad, something he is aware of, as reported by The Rangers Review.

The Light Blues manager has said that he wants a leaner squad, and yet, it is bigger now than when he started.

Any departures now will need to involve selling players who are out of contract and, if they aren’t playing, this isn’t always an easy task.

Michael Beale details Rangers squad issues with rebuild in final stages

Speaking after the 2-2 draw with Hoffenheim, Michael Beale said of the need to move Rangers players on:

“When you bring nine players in and two in January, that’s 11 into the squad. Quite a few have left, around eight to 10.

“But I need to have time now to bring this team together.

“Is it going to be perfect straight away? No.

“You can see there’s going to be teething problems. But you can see we’ve got good players. And as long as they all get in line and in tune quickly, we’ll be OK.

“Naturally with that process, one or two will be a little bit uneasy. One or two might bite down on the gum shield and fight.

“The window shuts on September 1 but we’ve got eight or nine games before then. So it will be a long month.

“I’m sure one or two will leave and maybe one or two more will arrive.”

Michael Beale will know what Rangers players are attracting interest.

Glen Kamara, Scott Wright and Fashion Sakala seem the closest to leaving and the three of them, if reports are accurate, could bring in just under £10m.

A £5m valuation for Kamara, £500k for Wright and £4m for Sakala would be an excellent return for three players who are no longer guaranteed to start and who cost us almost nothing to bring to the club.

In terms of arrivals, other than Jose Cifuentes, the only area I could see Michael Beale spending money is at centre-half and even that would depend on Ben Davies potentially leaving.

It’s been a busy summer but, with a month still to go until the window shuts, Michael Beale will still have plenty of phone calls to make to achieve the Rangers squad he wants.
