Rangers attacking midfielder Malik Tillman has cooled talk of an imminent switch to Ibrox by changing his Instagram profile picture for the second time in a matter of hours.

The Bayern loanee, 20, sent Rangers fans chattering after changing his profile picture to himself in a Rangers jersey but, amid the furore, the USA international has changed it to him playing in a USMNT kit.

We suspect that this has been in response to all the drama in the aftermath of Malik Tillman initially changing his Instagram picture, with it not commonplace to change the image again so quickly.

It’s certainly put the brakes on any Rangers excitement over a potential move for Tillman, who is reportedly a £5m transfer target ahead of the summer window.

Rangers have been clear that they hope to sign the club’s Young Player of the Year heading into next season, with the Gers holding an exclusive option-to-buy.

With that set to expire in the coming weeks, Rangers boss Michael Beale revealed discussions over Tillman have been set with Bayern for next week.

Speaking after he collected the PFA Scotland Players’ Player of the Year, Tillman also revealed that he is set to make a decision as we head into June.

“I’ve spoken to Michael Beale already and he said, ‘Just take your time. It’s your decision’. That’s what I’m going to do,” Tillman said after picking up his PFA Scotland award.

“The option is until the beginning of June or something so I still have three or four weeks to decide. I’m going to take my time because obviously it’s a big decision for me.

“It is still open. I am going to talk to Michael Beale in the coming days and see what he is saying and what the club is saying. Then I am going to speak to Bayern again and see what their plan is for me. And then I am going to decide.”

In total, Tillman made 43 appearances for Rangers this season, scoring 12 goals and laying on five assists.
