Bayern Munich loanee Malik Tillman has sent the Rangers transfer rumour mill into overdrive after changing his profile picture on Instagram.

The USA international, 20, changed his main profile picture on the social media app to an image of himself doing the iconic goal-scoring celebration which has become synonymous with the midfielder.

Covering part of his face and pointing to the camera, it’s a celebration Rangers fans saw from Malik Tillman several times this season and the Instagram move has fans chattering about a possible switch.

Rangers hold an exclusive option-to-buy over the midfielder which is set to expire in the coming days, with the decision appearing to rest in Tillman’s court.

The Ibrox side will reportedly have to pay around £5m to make the deal to sign the German-born attacking midfielder permanent and the club have been clear they are ready to cough up.

The decision then rests with Bayern and Tillman, whose change of profile picture on Instagram is understandably sweeping through Rangers communities around the country.

It could be something, it could be nothing. But, after watching the emotional send-off given to several outgoing Rangers stars last night, perhaps it swayed the midfielder’s decision.

This is after Tillman claimed, upon picking up the PFA Scotland Players’ Young Player of the Year award, that he was set to decide in the coming week.

“I’ve spoken to Michael Beale already and he said, ‘Just take your time. It’s your decision’. That’s what I’m going to do,” Tillman said after picking up his PFA Scotland award.

“The option is until the beginning of June or something so I still have three or four weeks to decide. I’m going to take my time because obviously it’s a big decision for me.

“It is still open. I am going to talk to Michael Beale in the coming days and see what he is saying and what the club is saying. Then I am going to speak to Bayern again and see what their plan is for me. And then I am going to decide.”

Tillman might have changed his Instagram profile picture to himself in a Rangers jersey but, speaking ahead of the clash with Hearts, Beale confirmed nothing was decided yet.

Amid mounting rumours about the club’s Young Player of the Year, the Rangers manager claimed a meeting with Bayern was scheduled after the weekend.
