As Rangers prepare a high profile summer of transfers, moves for Jack Butland, Kieran Dowell and Josh Maja represent a solid basis for Michael Beale’s rebuild.

There are several names mentioned as Rangers look forward to the next campaign, with several high profile players set to leave at the end of their contract and a long overdue revamp set to take place.

Arsenal defender Auston Trusty, currently on loan at Birmingham City, is the latest name to be mentioned whilst the likes of Aris winger Luis Palma continues to be mentioned.

Both would involve transfer fees and come under a different category of the Ibrox rebuild as Rangers look for a variety of transfers and to be smart with their budget.

But the three aforementioned names, all of them English-trained, appear to have a level of substance which could form the beginning of the rebuild and the platform from which to build next season.

Rangers line up three out-of-contract transfers

Jack Butland has been routinely mentioned over the last few weeks, with his Crystal Palace contract expiring and his loan deal at Man Utd coming to an end.

On high wages, there have been conflicting reports surrounding Rangers’ interest at times but the latest suggests Jack Butland will be a Gers player in the summer.

The same can be said for Norwich City midfielder Kieran Dowell, who is currently injured but who is also out of contract come to the end of the season.

Reports have suggested a Rangers deal has already been struck, whilst former Canaries teammate Todd Cantwell even commented on the player at the weekend.

Finally, there is Josh Maja, perhaps primed to replace the outgoing Alfredo Morelos, who is out of contract at Bordeaux come to the end of the season.

However, with the Nigerian international reportedly subject to an extension clause should the club be promoted, the striker’s latest comments makes for interesting reading heading into next season.

Asked directly about potential interest from Rangers, Josh Maja claimed he couldn’t think about it right now as the Ligue 2 side continue to mount a promotion charge in the French second flight.

Rangers fans are eager to see transfers come into the club early and with these three out of contract, and boasting decent if not unfulfilled pedigree, then securing them on free transfers will present a solid start to a big summer.
