Arsenal defender Auston Trusty is the latest name being linked to Rangers ahead of a huge summer rebuild but he’s not the only Birmingham City loanee reportedly attracting Ibrox interest.
Reports that Auston Trusty is being targeted by Rangers in a £2m deal have caused a little frustration amongst Arsenal fans who had high hopes for the USA cap when he arrived from Colorado Rapids in 2021.

The 24-year-old has spent the season on loan at St Andrews where the towering 6ft3 defender has impressed in both boxes, playing 48 games and even scoring four goals.
It’s an interesting move for Rangers fans who’ll be watching any prospective deal closely after a season of discontent in the centre-back positions amid injury and a lack of form.
All four first choice centre-backs have missed periods of the season, whilst Filip Helander hasn’t played at all and £4m summer signing Ben Davies is expected to leave the club in the summer.
Rangers Auston Trusty reports could explain Dion Sanderson links
Interestingly, Auston Trusty isn’t the only Birmingham City loanee being linked to Rangers, with Wolves defender Dion Sanderson also a name being mooted in the press.
The Englishman is another who has had a solid season in the English second tier and with Wolves reportedly open to selling the player Rangers have been routinely mentioned.
Birmingham City boss John Eustace is however eager to keep the 23-year-old around and it would appear Rangers will face fierce Blues resistance should they genuinely harbour signing hopes.
But as those links to Auston Trusty pick up a head of steam, it could explain why there has been a Rangers presence in and around St Andrews this season and perhaps it’s the American, and not Dion Sanderson, who is in the club’s sights.
Not that Birmingham’s record at the back this season will have Rangers fans utterly convinced on either player, with the club 17th in the Championship having shipped 58 goals.
Whatever happens, change is certainly coming for the Ibrox side who are preparing to say goodbye to several key players and move on to a new and somewhat uncertain future under Michael Beale.
