Birmingham City manager John Eustace has been buttering up Dion Sanderson as the Wolves loanee is subject to links with Rangers and Michael Beale.

The Gers manager has been linked to a host of young English players and the 23-year-old centre-back certainly fits the mould of a Rangers signing under the former Chelsea and Liverpool youth coach.

Rangers were linked to Dion Sanderson back in January and the murmurs have continued heading into the summer with the defender at a cross-roads in his career.

All the sounds suggest Wolves are willing to part ways with Dion Sanderson and if Rangers are interested, they will face competition from Birmingham City, where the defender has been impressing on loan.

The Blues are currently being managed by former English journeyman midfielder John Eustace, who will be a name familiar to Rangers fans.

Developing something of a sarcastic cult following in Govan, the name still pops up from time to time on forums and Twitter when fans are cracking wise about potential new signings.

This comes after the former midfielder spent time on trial with Rangers during the management of Mark Warburton, before injuries prevented him ever playing for the club.

And now, after previously hinting Birmingham City would put up a fight for Dion Sanderson, the manager has been buttering him up and commending the defender’s “commitment” to the Championship side’s cause.

“The way Dion has performed, the way he’s acted around the training ground, the way he’s travelled to away games when he’s not been involved, shows he has been fully committed to this football club,” said John Eustace.

“I know it means a lot to him.

“He came here last season and did very well. The fans like Dion and the players love him to bits. Dion has certainly proved that he is very committed.”

Whilst the situation surrounding Dion Sanderson is hush at the moment, Rangers have been linked with two English stars with a point to prove in Jack Butland and Kieran Dowell this week.

Nottingham Forest defender Jonathan Panzo, currently on loan at Coventry City, is another name which routinely pops up in the press.
