Lyall Cameron certainly appears to tick a lot of boxes when it comes to Rangers.
Ibrox director Nils Koppen has made it clear that homegrown talent will be central to Rangers’ transfer policy going forward.
At the same time Lyall Cameron represents one of the most exciting young talents in the Scottish Premiership and someone who is available on a cut price pre-contract deal
With the transfer deadline fast approaching, Rangers fans are desperate to know if Lyall Cameron will make the switch to Ibrox this season.
Here’s the latest update on the situation with the Dens Park star.
Lyall Cameron agrees Rangers deal
Dundee and Rangers have now announced that Lyall Cameron has agreed a pre-contract move to Rangers that will see the 22-year-old join up with the Gers in the summer.
The midfielder is set to stick with Dundee until the end of the season as he looks to leave Tony Docherty’s Dens Park upstarts on a high.
Rangers have been free to negotiate a new contract with Lyall Cameron but would have to strike a January deal a la Glen Kamara if the club wanted the player to move this month.
Rangers News understands that for the time being the Rangers recruitment team are satisfied with a pre-contract agreement which will see Cameron move to Ibrox at the end of the season.
Philippe Clement to sign ‘decisive’ player
Lyall Cameron previously claimed that it’s his career ‘wish’ to play in grounds like Ibrox during a visit to Rangers earlier in the season.
Philippe Clement has also previously hailed the ’decisive’ influence of the Dundee midfielder, Cameron scoring eight goals at Dens Park this campaign.
The Rangers manager singled out Cameron when praising Docherty’s Dundee team at the start of January.
“I have a lot of respect for Tony Docherty,” Clement told a pre-match press conference.
“His team is always very competitive, they make it really difficult for opponents.
“They are really good in transition, they have a lot of good players in transition. Three front players really good in that way.
“Lyle Cameron also, a very good midfielder, creative midfielder, with decisive action in the last pass and a good solid base behind him also.”

Rangers are delighted to secure a pre-contract deal for Cameron as Nils Koppen sticks true to his homegrown transfer promise.
Rangers will however need to strike a development fee with Dundee as Lyall Cameron is under 23 years of age and came through the youth set up at Dens Park.
If the Gers cannot agree a fee with Dundee, then the dispute would risk going to an independent tribunal.
Rangers were forced to pay Aberdeen more than £600k in compensation after a tribunal ruled on the pre-contract arrival of Connor Barron in the summer.
