Derek McInnes may have to give up hopes of bringing Cammy Devlin with him to Rangers as he is mulling over two other options.

Devlin emerged as a target for the Light Blues even before they agreed a deal to appoint McInnes as the replacement for Danny Rohl in recent days.

STV Radio host and Hearts fan Ewen Cameron revealed in May that he has heard Rangers are plotting a move to sign the Australia international on a free transfer.

With McInnes now on his way to Govan, there is a feeling that he may have already held talks with Devlin over a potential reunion in Glasgow.

However, the midfielder is a man in demand this summer, with at least four offers already on the table.

What would your concerns be about Derek McInnes replacing Danny Rohl?

Devlin considering ‘mega’ MLS offer

According to the Daily Record, Devlin has received a ‘mega’ offer from MLS side Real Salt Lake.

The American club are also said to be leading the race to acquire the Australian’s services, with the player mulling over the proposal.

He remains in talks with Hearts over extending his stay at Tynecastle, as his attachment to the club could still see him stay put.

However, the Real Salt Lake offer may prove to be one that he cannot reject.

Devlin is a wanted man in the MLS, with Chicago Fire and Seattle Sounders interested in snapping him up.

He has also attracted interest from clubs in the EFL Championship and Turkiye.

This means McInnes may have to bin any hope he had of reuniting with Devlin at Ibrox this summer.

Rangers to turn to other targets

Signing a defensive-minded midfielder has evidently become a priority for the Glaswegian outfit this summer.

This is evidenced by their documented interest in several players, including Elliot Watt and Lewis Ferguson, among others.

Therefore, Rangers will not be too disappointed about missing out on Devlin, although the same may not be true for McInnes.

The Scottish tactician could still bring a Hearts player with him to Ibrox, as he is said to be keen to sign Claudio Braga as well.
