Danilo is the one player linked with a move to Rangers this summer who has really  got fans excited.

What’s not to like? He’s a Brazilian number nine reportedly valued at £7m who knows how to score goals, is young, full of potential and eager to be the main man for a big club.

Now, as always with modern football, Danilo has hinted that his future might be at Rangers after all.

An interview with Feyenoord’s media team was one that suggest he is fully focussed on his current club and that everything is just background noise.

Actions speak louder than words though.

What has Danilo done amid Rangers reported interest?

A quick look at Danilo’s Twitter feed and he is being less than subtle with how he feels about Rangers reported interest.

As always though, not everything is as it seems as the posts have now, mysteriously, been unliked.

Michael Beale is currently well stocked for strikers and, with a squad that currently sits at the high 30s in terms of numbers, it would be a surprise to see the board sanction another big spend – just now.

What they might see though, is that Danilo is an opportunity that is too good to turn down for Rangers.

If Feyenoord are willing to sell, the 23-year old could be considered as the long-term replacement for Kemar Roofe and that not waiting until next summer is being proactive.

In the case of Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos and Allan McGregor, Rangers hesitated for far too long before deciding what to do.

The biggest question comes down to finances.

With the additions that have arrived so far, the matchday squad is going to look a lot better in terms of age and quality but the wage bill has to come down.

If a few high earners leave, it will make Beale’s plea to the board one that will be a lot harder to turn down given that they know Roofe has just a year left on his current deal.

The summer rebuild has been a club wide one, fresh hope has been instilled throughout, Danilo signing for Rangers would be the icing on the cake and signal that this board and James Bisgrove are true to their word.
