Rangers will have to pay £7m if they hope to land Feyenoord striker Danilo – with the Gers only said to have bid half of that figure.
According to the Scottish Sun, Rangers had a £3.5m bid for Danilo booted out of the Eredivisie champions as the Ibrox side continue to look towards strengthening their forward line.
And if the Ibrox side are serious about making the transfer permanent then they will need to cough up double that with the report claiming that Feyenoord want £7m for the 14-goal forward.
Feyenoord picked up Danilo on a free last season when his contract expired at Dutch giants Ajax and the club clearly believe they can make a healthy profit on the forward.
Danilo eyeing Champions League with Feyenoord
With that Eredivisie win, Feyenoord are set to play Champions League football next season and Danilo has previously spoken how important this is for his own ambitions.
“The mentality within the club is so good. We try to do everything we can to improve,” said Danilo. “And we keep our feet on the ground. And next season we have Champions League football.
“For me, I would love to play in the Nou Camp against Barcelona. The club where Ronaldinho and Neymar played and where Lionel Messi did magic with the ball.
“So yes, I would love to play there with Feyenoord.”
Rangers face some tricky qualifiers to reach the group stages but have previous in the Netherlands having overcome PSV Eindhoven to reach the Champions League last season.
Rangers striker hunt continues
There is some conflicting reporting regarding the transfer fee Rangers might have to pay to sign Danilo, with others reporting that Feyenoord value slightly less than £7m.
But whatever the case should Rangers manage to get a transfer for the striker over the line then it will represent a substantial outlay for the club as they rebuild under Michael Beale.
The Gers have to replace the influence of Alfredo Morelos this summer with the club already moving for Atalanta striker Sam Lammers and the Gers also reportedly set to confirm the loan signing of Brighton attacker Abdallah Sima.
