Feyenoord striker Danilo could be signing number eight for Rangers, if Michael Beale gets his way
Reports of an increased offer over £5m suggests that the Gers gaffer is keen to get a deal done but much will depend on the Dutch outfit.
Transfer journalist Dean Jones believes that it is Feyenoord who are currently blocking the transfer being completed with Danilo keen to join Rangers, as told to GiveMeSport.
The Eredivisie champions will be looking to sign a replacement before letting the Light Blues-linked Brazilian.
Danilo to Rangers hinges on Feyenoord factor
Japanese forward Ayase Ueda has been mentioned but Feyenoord boss Arnie Slot is yet to find support for Santiago Gimenez.
Jones does have good news on Danilo for Rangers fans though in that there appears to be only one stumbling block to overcome:
“I believe Danilo is back in pre-season training now. But that deal is still progressing as far as Rangers are concerned. Their problem is that Feyenoord are holding things up at their end.
“I believe that half the job is done here, from a Rangers point of view, because the player is up for the move.
“They just now need to get to the next stage of that, where the selling club are open to this happening. So, they’ll keep plugging away at it.”
If James Bisgrove can agree a fee, it would make things a lot more encouraging.
Danilo is said to want to join Rangers but Feyenoord’s stance is entirely understandable.
Thankfully though, there is still a long way to go in the transfer window so a last minute cancellation shouldn’t be on the cards if a deal can be negotiated.
Feyenoord have plenty of time to find an alternative and will already have been looking, given when our interest in Danilo was first reported and an offer by Rangers made.
