The CEO of Eredivisie champions Feyenoord has started following De Kuip-linked Japanese striker Ayase Ueda as Rangers wait on a key Danilo domino to fall.
Such is the way of the world these days, the fact Dennis de Kloese has started following Cercle Brugge forward Ayase Ueda on Instagram has got plenty talking about a potential switch to Feyenoord.
The 24-year-old had an explosive season in the Belgian Pro League last campaign, scoring 22 goals in his first year in the competition and reportedly piquing interest from across Europe.
This most pertinently includes from Serie A outfit Genoa, but reports in Italian outlet Calcio Mercato this week claimed Genoese interest in Ayase Ueda was “complicated” by interest from Feyenoord.
Reports last week in local paper Il Secolo XIX had also suggested that Cercle Brugge’s £7m (€8m) asking price, and Ayase Ueda’s non-EU status, made a move to Italy a non-starter.
Despite this, there are claims the Italians have now moved on to Tigre’s Argentine striker Mateo Retegui, who could cost up to €15m (£13m) [Calcio Mercato].
Now, all the reporting is pointing to the Dutch club striking a deal for the £7m (€8m) striker as Arne Slot’s transfer prayers are answered by the club’s move for the Japanese star.
This Football Tribe report from Japan certainly alludes to a deal, suggesting Feyenoord could also hold off interest from Sporting Lisbon and the German Bundesliga to sign the striker.

The fact that Feyenoord’s CEO is now following Ayase Ueda on Instagram will pique the interest of Rangers fans patiently waiting for an update on Brazilian striker Danilo.
The South American forward, 24, netted a total of 14 goals in all competitions last season, including 10 in the Eredivisie as Feyenoord lifted the title, and his potential signing is an exciting one for supporters.
Having reportedly had a bid rejected earlier in the window, Michael Beale was coy about the interest and whilst admitting the Brazilian is a player the club like, hinted the Gers were also exploring other options.
