Couhaib Driouech is probably the Rangers rumour of transfer deadline day so far.

The Dutch-Moroccan winger, 22, has found himself propping up the PSV Eindhoven bench this season and rumours surrounding a move to Rangers have spread like wildfire.

Rangers were linked to Couhaib Driouech in the summer but PSV nabbed in front to secure a £3m deal with Eredivisie side Excelsior.

Now, Dutch media and journalists in Scotland have moved to clarify Driouech’s situation in Eindhoven and the chatter surrounding potential Rangers transfer interest.

Couhaib Driouech links to Rangers intensified this morning when an account on X claimed a £3.5m loan-to-buy deal had been struck with PSV Eindhoven.

Links to Rangers coach Alex Rae sent the Gers transfer sleuths into overdrive but now journalists have moved to clarify the situation.

And it’s not good news for those Rangers fans who’d gotten excited about a potential move for Couhaib Driouech.

Dutch journalist Rick Elfrink – who covers PSV for Eindhovens Dagblad and AD Sportwereled – said ‘I don’t think so’ when asked about the rumours.

In reference to the furore around the Rangers links to Dirouech, Elfrink then later said: “The chaos is complete again because of all the nonsense, as usual.”

Rangers expected to do transfer business

It’s not just in the Netherlands that those Rangers rumours surrounding Couhaib Driouech have been shut down either.

The Rangers Review have also moved to clarify the situation and claim that Rangers are not currently in negotiations with PSV over Couhaib Driouech.

The outlet does however believe that Rangers do expect to do business before the close of the transfer window later this evening.

Rangers are believed to be in the hunt for a new attacker after a late bid for Union Berlin forward Yorbe Vertessen collapsed.

Rabbi Matondo has also made a bright start at Hannover 96 after freeing up a space in the Ibrox squad for a new arrival today.
