Rangers are hard at work trying to secure last minute arrivals on transfer deadline day as Philippe Clement looks to strengthen his squad.
The Rangers manager has urged the powers that be at Ibrox to strike the sort of deals which take his team to the next level after a yo-yo first half of the 24/25 campaign.
But with left wing known to be an area of concern for Philippe Clement and Rangers, the club look set to taste disappointment in the late pursuit of Belgian winger Yorbe Vertessen.
Rangers launch late Yorbe Vertessen bid
Rangers reportedly launched a late bid to sign Union Berlin attacker Yorbe Vertessen with the 24-year-old out of favour in the Bundesliga.
The Ibrox side have already seen winger Rabbi Matondo head the other way to Germany with the Welsh international opening his account for Hannover 96 over the weekend.
The Yorbe Vertessen reports, which stem from reputable Belgian sources, suggest Rangers are working on finding a replacement for Matondo this January.
But it looks increasingly unlikely it will be the former PSV Eindhoven winger, who will know Rangers technical Nils Koppen from his days at the Dutch club.
Yorbe Vertessen finalising RB Salzburg move
Rangers chances of signing Yorbe Vertessen were originally branded a long-shot and so it has proven with the winger closing in on a deal with RB Salzburg.
As first reported by Sky Sports journalist Lisa de Ruiter, Vertessen is closing in on a permanent switch to the Austrian club this January.
Vertessen missed Union Berlin training on Sunday ahead of the move and also missed the weekend’s 0-0 draw with RB Leipzig.

Journalist Pieter-Jan Calcoen admitted it would take ‘a huge charm offensive’ for Rangers to interrupt the deal.
At the time of writing, Nils Koppen and co appear ‘too late’ with Yorbe Vertessen already finalising the move to Austria.
