Club to back out of signing Rangers defender after what he did away from Ibrox

Rangers are on course to offload several players as they prepare for a major squad overhaul under Danny Rohl this summer transfer window.

The Light Blues are determined to put the disappointment of last season behind them, as evidenced by their quick pursuit of Lawrence Shankland, which ended with the Scot putting pen to paper on a two-year deal at Ibrox.

With Andrew Cavenagh extending his support to Rohl publicly, the focus is now on giving the German tactician the tools required to mount a solid title challenge next term.

However, this is also expected to involve several players being shown the door at Ibrox ahead of next season.

Which area should Rangers prioritise on strengthening this summer? 🤔

KVC Westerlo to back out of signing Clinton Nsiala

Among the players who do not appear to have a future under Rohl is Clinton Nsiala, who was sent out on loan to Belgium in February following the head coach’s arrival.

KVC Westerlo signed the centre-back on a temporary deal in the winter transfer window, with an option to make the move permanent included in the agreement.

However, things did not quite work out for the former AC Milan academy player at the Belgian Pro League club, as he was restricted to just four appearances across all competitions.

Assessing if Nsiala still has a future at Westerlo, Voetbal Primeur did not seem too optimistic.

The Belgian outlet claimed that only a few loan players are ‘allowed to stay longer’ at their respective clubs in the Pro League, and Nsiala is not one of them.

The report noted how the 22-year-old picked up an ‘unnecessary red card’ in Westerlo’s 0-0 draw against Royal Union Saint-Gilloise in March, thus ending any chance of remaining at the club.

Who must Rangers sell as part of the squad overhaul this summer?

Cavenagh and Rohl have major decisions to make.

Rangers will tell Nsiala to find new club

There is no information available on the fee that was agreed between Rangers and Westerlo if the latter were to make Nsiala’s loan move permanent.

However, it is safe to say that the Ibrox club have suffered a major blow in their hopes of offloading the Frenchman, who will certainly be told to find a new club this summer.

The centre-back has two more years remaining on his contract at the Govan club, but it would not be surprising if both parties agreed to terminate the agreement prematurely.
