Chris Jack has revealed the truth regarding a transfer for Hampus Skoglund after it emerged that Rangers have held talks over signing him.
Signing at least one new right-back is high on the Light Blues’ transfer wishlist this summer, especially after James Tavernier’s exit at the end of last season.
It emerged on Wednesday morning that Rangers are interested in Westerlo defender Bryan Reynolds and have already had a £2.2million bid rejected by the Belgian club.
Reynolds is not the only right-back linked with a move to Govan this summer, though, as Rangers News exclusively revealed that the club have held talks with the representatives of Hammarby’s Skoglund.

Rangers not pursuing Skoglund, says Chris Jack
However, Hammarby sporting director Mikael Hjelmberg has since poured cold water on the potential transfer, claiming that they have yet to be contacted by Rangers.
Now, the ever-reliable Gers journalist Jack has weighed in on the club’s interest in the Sweden Under-21 international.
He revealed that the Ibrox outfit are currently not pursuing a deal for the 22-year-old despite heavy links to him in recent weeks.
Jack doubled down on his claim, insisting that Skoglund does not feature on any of Rangers‘ transfer shortlists this summer.

The Herald reporter is so confident that Danny Rohl‘s side are not interested in signing the Swede that he admitted he is not putting too much effort into chasing that up.
Speaking on the Rangers Review’s Wednesday Morning Briefing, he said, “As far as we understand, there is no interest in Skoglund. It’s a name that got quite a bit of mileage on social media in the last two to three weeks or so.
“But as far as we understand, it is not one that is on any potential list for Rangers. So, not putting too much effort into chasing that one.”

There is a chance that two new right-backs may be signed…
Talks have been held with Skoglund’s representatives
While Jack has outright quashed any interest in Skoglund, sources maintain that there has been at least one meeting between Rangers and the player’s representatives.
However, it remains to be seen if the Premiership heavyweights intend to take their interest forward, considering they are now focused on signing Reynolds.
It is possible that the Gers sign more than one right-back this summer, and in that case, they could step up their interest in Skoglund.
