Rangers are interested in signing Amario Cozier-Duberry from Brighton after his impressive loan spell at Bolton Wanderers.

It emerged on Sunday that the Light Blues are eyeing a move for the 20-year-old, as Andrew Cavenagh’s recruitment drive gathers momentum in the wake of Lawrence Shankland’s arrival.

However, landing Cozier-Duberry looks set to be a more complicated proposition than initially anticipated, with fresh details emerging around what Brighton might demand for their highly-rated youngster.

Amario Cozier-Duberry or Mikey Moore – who would you rather have at Rangers next season?

Rangers are interested in the Brighton attacker

Rangers are interested in Brighton & Hove Albion attacker Amario Cozier-Duberry, who spent the 2025-26 season on loan at Bolton Wanderers.
Cozier-Duberry scored 10 goals on loan at Bolton this season.

Fee discussion raises questions over Rangers pursuit

Insider journalist Alan Nixon has waded into the debate around Cozier-Duberry’s future, suggesting Brighton’s asking price is likely to be high, even as contract talks between the player and the Seagulls remain ongoing.

Nixon acknowledged that a fee could potentially be structured and spread over a number of years, which may open the door for clubs operating on tighter budgets to make a credible offer for the winger.

However, he was measured in his assessment of whether any club would ultimately follow through if the price tag is high.

In response to a Bolton fan on X, Nixon wrote: “I wonder if Brighton sell the lad. You can spread a fee over a few years, but I suspect his price will be high. Whether any come in is another matter.”

Cozier-Duberry’s contract at Brighton runs until 2028, but the Seagulls are keen to tie him down to a long-term deal after an impressive loan spell at Bolton, for whom he scored 10 goals and provided 12 assists in 41 games.

There is significant interest in the former Arsenal youth player, with AS Monaco, Cercle Brugge, FC Koln and Schalke linked with a move.

What it means for Rangers

For Rangers, the emerging fee picture presents a genuine test of intent.

Cavenagh has shown with the Shankland deal that the club are willing to be creative in the transfer window and take advantage of market opportunities.

Nixon’s suggestion that fees can be spread over several years may provide a workable route into a deal for Cozier-Duberry.

The England Under-20s international remains a highly attractive prospect – perhaps even better than Mikey Moore, who has returned to Tottenham after his loan deal.

It is worth noting that the Ibrox outfit were interested in signing Cozier-Duberry before Brighton signed him from Arsenal in 2024.

With Brighton keen to keep the attacker, Rangers’ best bet to bring him to Ibrox may be a season-long loan deal.
