Neither Rangers nor any of Luca Langoni’s other suitors have made an official ‘offer’ for the Boca Juniors starlet with a £13 million release clause, according to his agent.
It is over a week now since reports emerged claiming that Rangers – along with Sevilla and Nice – had made an ‘approach’ for one of the rising stars of Argentinian football.
21-year-old Luca Langoni, a right winger likened to Manchester City’s World Cup winner Julian Alvarez due to his dynamism and ball-striking ability, is perhaps the most exciting talent to be linked with the Scottish Premiership giants since the turn of the year.
But, as things stand, Rangers’ interest appears to have gone no further.

Rangers linked with Boca Juniors starlet Luca Langoni
Carlos Censi, Langoni’s agent, tells D Sports Radio that while there is no shortage of interest in his client, enquiries and approaches are yet to turn into bids or offers.
“There were no offers from Europe. Just some surveys and approaches,” Censi explains. “We have our heads in Boca.
“Luca is happy (here in Argentina).”
Langoni has a £13 million release clause in his contract. As such, Rangers’ best hope may rest on whether Boca Juniors are willing to send the youngster out on loan. There is also interest from Benfica. A club who have a proud tradition of signing some of Argentine’s brightest young talent. Angel di Maria made his name in Lisbon. Ditto Nicolas Gaitan. Enzo Fernandez, meanwhile, joined Chelsea for over £100 million just a few months after Benfica signed him up River Plate.
Rangers close in on Mohamed Diomande
“Langoni is going to have a fate similar to that of Julian Alvarez,” argues Argentinian pundit Horacio Pagani. “He is a phenomenal player because he plays with audacity. He has the personality to catch the ball and kick at the goal, he plays with a lot of determination.”
Rangers are no further down the line in their pursuit of Langoni, then, but the same cannot be said of Mohamed Diomande. Philippe Clement’s side are expected to tie up a potential £4.5 million deal for the Nordsjaelland midfielder before the month is out.
It remains to be seen whether Rangers also look to bring in a replacement for the ‘long-term’ absentee Abdallah Sima, while the potential arrival of a new left-back will depend on whether Ridvan Yilmaz stays or goes.
