Rangers-linked Swansea City striker Joel Piroe is now allegedly attracting interest from two “unnamed” Premier League sides in a sizeable dent to ambitious suggestions the Gers could pounce.

Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett has tweeted that Swansea will allow Joel Piroe to leave if his “valuation is met”, with the ex-PSV Eindhoven striker netting 44 goal in his first two seasons at the Championship club.

While it is not clear which Premier League sides are interested in Piroe, the 23-year-old is contracted to Swansea until 2024 and any watching teams will have to pay a transfer fee this summer.

Rangers were linked with Piroe back in March but, as the striker’s form has progressed this season, there has been no mention of any interest heading into the summer.

This is with Rangers needing a striker to replace Alfredo Morelos and more firepower to mount a proper domestic challenge after two seasons of floundering against Celtic.

The Rangers links to Piroe also came despite Swansea valuing the striker at £20m only last summer, with now-relegated Leicester City strongly linked at the time.

While the price tag may well have dropped, considering Piroe is about to enter the final year of his contract, the financial details of any proposed transfer make a move to Rangers appear unrealistic.

That is despite Ibrox manager Michael Beale claiming that Rangers may well spend on a striker ahead of next season as the club looks to bolster its frontline.

There have been ten strikers extensively linked to Rangers this summer and, while Piroe isn’t one of them, that doesn’t mean the Ibrox side won’t be forking out.

The latest suggests that Rangers have had a bid turned down for £7m-rated Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers, who has just suffered relegation with his side from Serie A.

There is also USA international forward Haji Wright, who turns out for Turkish Super Lig outfit Antalyaspor and who is another said to have been the subject of an Ibrox bid.
