Rangers are one a number of clubs who’re said to be monitoring Swansea City’s Dutch striker Joel Piroe after an impressive season in the English Championship.

The former PSV Eindhoven striker has netted 14 goals in all competitions for the Swans this season and has a decent record of 38 goals in 83 games since joining the club in 2021.

A former Netherlands U20 youth international, there is some strong pedigree there and Rangers have been linked alongside a host of English Championship promotion hopefuls.

Rangers linked to Joel Piroe

Football League World claim the Ibrox club have been watching Joel Piroe alongside the likes of Burnley, Norwich City and Middlesbrough ahead of a summer of change at Ibrox.

Rangers are expected to invest heavily in their forward line this summer with the future of Alfredo Morelos not yet decided and Kemar Roofe a consistent injury doubt.

It leaves Antonio Colak – himself suffering an injury this season – as potentially the only reliable striker in the squad and it means the club could sign two new forwards come the summer window.

But if Rangers do want to sign Joel Piroe, then they will be expected to cough up, with interest in the Premier League from the likes of Crystal Palace and Everton also mooted.

Swansea set bold asking price

About to enter the final year of his Swansea contract, we’d be surprised if the Welsh outfit managed to recoup the £20m [Daily Mail] he was valued at by Russell Martin’s side back in the summer.

Still, it’s one to watch for Rangers fans who are eager to see some major signings come into the club this summer.

Joel Piroe would, on paper at least, symbolise a major statement of intent as Rangers look to wrestle the title back from Celtic with investment expected.

Rangers have let their rivals overtake them in the last few windows by failing to properly invest in the starting XI, instead bulking their already inflated squad out with questionable squad fillers.

Meanwhile, Jerry Yates has been breaking his Championship scoring duck.
