Given everything that has happened on the pitch this season, it is easy to understand why Rangers fans might be excited by what is happening off it.
Last year, at one point, Rangers were without four key executives, the club was drifting to the extent that Philippe Clement kept his job due to the lack of anyone to sack him and find a replacement.
Ironically, it has turned out to be a stroke of luck because Patrick Stewart, Kevin Thelwell and Gretar Steinsson is an infinitely more competent executive team than the one that would have made the call at the end of 2024.
The appointment of Thelwell as sporting director is something of a coup given his Premier League experience with the San Francisco 49ers takeover set to take Rangers to another level.
Mark Guidi, speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, has his doubts.

Mark Guidi reports Rangers takeover concerns
The 49ers entourage was seen arriving at Ibrox this week and the deal is well into the final stretch, if reports are to be believed.
According to Guidi though, the takeover might not be the solution everyone hopes and expects it to be:
“Now they did say last week, talks progressing well, but the fans are desperate to know when is this going to happen to start to plan for next season?
“Well, we’ve been hearing for 10 weeks that talks are going well, which is fine. They might be going well. They might not be going well.
“I have no idea, Paul (Cooney). But all that matters is are you going to sign? Are you going to take control of the club?
“I know a real couple of experienced Rangers supporters, big hitters, Rangers supporters that are concerned about it. They’re concerned. Okay, they take over great.
“When you say it out loud, it sounds brilliant. American businessmen in the 49ers are coming to do it. But what are they actually going to do?
“What are they going to do for the football club? Because ultimately, all that matters is beating Celtic over 38 games to become the champions. That’s what every Rangers supporter wants to achieve.”
49ers have already shown what Rangers plans could be
It’s almost like Guidi is completely oblivious to what the 49ers have done at Leeds United.
Paraag Marathe is one of the 49ers top men and was given the role of chairman at the now Premier League outfit.
There is no doubt about how seriously they are treating their football operations department.
Leeds lost key players like Archie Gray and Crysencio Summerville, and yet, have emerged even stronger thanks to successful recruitment.
The plans to expand Elland Road by 20,000 seats have been released and the fact that Daniel Farke could be sacked as Leeds boss, despite being on course to win the Championship says it all about the 49ers targets.
“What are they going to do?” Asked Guidi. It looks pretty obvious to anyone paying attention.
