Steven Gerrard was in Scotland this week at the same time as Danny Rohl is facing an uncertain future at Rangers.

Rangers are in talks with RB Salzburg over Rohl’s future, as the two sides will need to agree on a compensation fee if the German is to join the Austrian club.

The Austrian club may need to shell out £6m if they are to lure the Gers boss away from Ibrox in the coming weeks.

Steven Gerrard was in Scotland earlier this week as he’s on Rangers’ shortlist

Rangers News reported Gerrard is among the names under consideration should Rohl leave the club this summer.

There surely will be conversations held with the former Light Blues boss as well as other names who the hierarchy think will be ideal to drive the team to the Scottish Premiership title next week.

The Daily Record claim that Gerrard was in fact in Scotland earlier this week, with the timing coinciding with Salzburg touching base to hire Rohl.

Will Steven Gerrard become the next Rangers manager?

Tam McManus believes Danny Rohl will be sacked…

The England legend is someone who has spoken to Cavenagh and co. before, as he was under consideration to replace Russell Martin.

At one stage, it looked like a nigh-on certainty that Gerrard would be back in the Ibrox hot seat, but things changed at the eleventh hour.

His main issue was likely with Kevin Thelwell, who is no longer at the club, so that may smooth things in his favour.

Why losing Danny Rohl could prove costly for Rangers

Fans have every right to be angry with the way things unfolded last season following the split, and Rohl deserves a fair share of the blame.

However, if the Germans had not got the team into the title picture as was expected, this would not even be a point of discussion.

How long will Danny Rohl be at Rangers?

He has to be credited for getting Rangers back in the title race, making good signings like Tuur Rommens, Tochi Chukwuani, Ryan Naderi, as well as Lawrence Shankland in the summer, and trying to build an identity around the club.

No manager was going to come in and wave their magic wands to make things better overnight.

Rohl has shown that he can build a good team if given the time, and the Gers will be better off continuing under him rather than having another manager who may not like some of the players signed over the last 12 months.
