A multi-million-pound transfer deal for Liverpool winger Ryan Kent is “going in the right direction”, at least according to club insider Four Lads Had a Dream.
The reputable Rangers insider has claimed on their Twitter account “they have no idea” of the value of the transfer, but quote rumoured figures ranging from £5.5m-£7m.
They also reiterate to fans that Rangers “are in the running and have a chance” of signing the Scottish PFA Young Player of the Year.
If Rangers were to stump up this kind of money for Ryan Kent, it shows real intent by the club.
There’s absolutely no doubting the tricky winger’s talent. But there’s also no doubting he isn’t the finished article yet.
The hope here is that by investing so much in Kent now, his resale value skyrockets in the future.
But the only way that’s realistically going to happen is if he begins to produce more in the final third. Kent has six goals and nine assists in 40 games for Rangers.
Whilst it doesn’t tell his whole influence, for £5.5m Rangers need greater end-product.
