One-time reported Rangers target Lawrence Shankland has sent an emotional message to Ayr United fans as he signalled his intention to leave the club.
The striker has been in superb form for the Honest Men this season, netting an immense 34 goals in 41 games.
With his contract running out, he is now set to move on. But could Rangers still have an eye on the 23-year-old?

Shankland’s goals catapulted Ian McCall’s Ayr United side towards a promotion dream. Unfortunately, they fell short along the final stretch.
But without Shankland’s goals, the Somerset Park side wouldn’t have had the chance to dream.
They finished fourth in the Scottish Championship and eventually fell to Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the playoffs. The final aggregate score ended 4-2.
Shankland’s goals earned him this year’s Championship Tartan Ball, the award given for being the top scorer in the Championship.
Rangers were said to be competing with Celtic for the player’s signature earlier in the season [Daily Star].
The player has also been linked with moves down south, with the likes of Sunderland thought to be leading the pack.

It would appear Shankland has plenty of options but is Ibrox still one of them? The player is a Rangers fan and given his scoring rate, it’d be strange if we didn’t at least consider him.
But are Rangers looking to target greater quality as we look to really challenge Celtic next season?
