Rangers have reportedly slapped an £18m asking price on the head of in-demand Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos, according to a leading Sky Sports journalist.

Reporter Charles Paterson was quoted in the Express as he reiterated earlier comments by Stewart Robertson that Rangers value Morelos at the same price Celtic did Moussa Dembele.

Paterson claims that Dembele left Celtic for Lyon for £18m last season.

“Rangers are understood to value him as highly as Celtic valued Moussa Dembele,” said Paterson.

“Remember that Celtic sold Dembele to Lyon a year ago for £18m.

“Now, if there was ever an offer that came in of that valuation for Morelos, you’d have to think Rangers would be prepared to do business.

“But it is as it stands that there has not been an offer.”

Not that Paterson doesn’t feel that’s likely to change.

Following on from what Steven Gerrard saying about the club expecting a late bid for one of their star men, Paterson claims “there have been rumblings that perhaps clubs in Europe are looking to potentially make a bid this week.”

Couple that with French outlets claiming Rangers were set to pounce for Amiens and Senegal striker Moussa Konate to the tune of £9m [Premium Courier], and you can see why Morelos’ future has been in question.

Those reports were eventually rubbished by the club, but it was enough to get the frighteners up fans about Morelos’ future.

With under a week left to go the club are yet to receive an acceptable bid for Morelos – but could one yet come from Germany?
