Rangers transfer window has been more about moving players out than new arrivals with Philippe Clement turning to youth to find new players.

Rafael Fernandes has been signed to strengthen the squad but the academy has seen several promotions in recent weeks – there will be no new arrivals until players are sold.

The manager has addressed the transfer situation with Cyriel Dessers the highest profile Rangers player who has been linked with a move, something that the striker has now clarified.

Cyriel Dessers keen to prove his Rangers doubters wrong

Speaking after scoring a spectacular goal against Dundee United to put the game out of sight, the Gers No.9 is adamant where his future lies:

“I feel like I’m in a good place,” Dessers said. “I’ve been feeling that for a couple of weeks. I’ve been working hard on and off the pitch and then then if you get the moments like this, to show it, and then you need to show it.

“No talks [about my future] at all. I don’t mind that. I try to focus on the football be the things that are happening on the pitch.

“Those are the things that I can control. And like Sunday, I’m just happy to be out there with the guys and fight for the points and be important. That’s what I want.

“There’s a lot of unfinished business at Rangers for me. That’s also why I kept pushing in the last weeks, in the gym, in training, in the minutes that you get, that’s because of that.”

Are Rangers right to be looking to sell Dessers?

Dessers, signed for £4.5m, is the type of player that shouldn’t be getting chased out of Ibrox

The 30-year old can frustrate, but he has shown this season that he can make a valuable contribution in terms of goals and assists.

His contract is an issue given that he spends a lot of time behind Hamza Igamane and Danilo and is one of the top earners.

Strikers are always in demand, especially ones with Dessers’ goal scoring record, so it is easy to see why Rangers would consider any suitable offers.

There are no sure things anymore though and Clement will be confident that the current group of strikers are all capable of chipping in with goals and assists.

A guarantee that going into the transfer market can’t provide.
