Rangers transfer domino falls as £20m Premier League clause activated

A key Rangers transfer domino is set to fall as Chelsea reportedly activate the £20m Premier League relegation clause in Tyler Adams’ Leeds United contract.

If the transfer goes through – with the likes of Fabrizio Romano claiming a medical is due imminently – then it will free up space and funds for Leeds United to move for Glen Kamara.

There have been suggestions that Tyler Adams’ move to Chelsea could prove a catalyst for any Leeds United move for Glen Kamara and Rangers will be watching the situation closely.

Reports have suggested there is substantial interest in Rangers’ Finnish international midfielder, with the Ibrox star valued at £5.5m by the Glasgow club.

Leeds United have been mentioned throughout the summer as Glen Kamara suitors but were not one of the six clubs noted by journalist Chris Jack in an update on the player last week.

However, the host of leading Rangers fan media outlet and club partners Heart & Hand suggested earlier in the week that Leeds United interest in Glen Kamara could be linked to Chelsea’s bid for Tyler Adams.

“Leeds seems to be the one that he wants as well,” H&H host David Edgar said on the platform’s Daily Update [09/08].

“Leeds are currently waiting for Chelsea to finalise their bid for their midfielder Tyler Adams, the American international.

“When he goes then you’d assume Leeds will step up their interest and get Kamara in.”

Chelsea bid for Tyler Adams, Leeds United in for Glen Kamara?

Given the reported transfer fee involved in any Glen Kamara move, Rangers would be beefing out the club’s transfer returns this summer having already sanctioned several high profile exits.

Whilst a number of experienced Ibrox players have left at the end of their contracts, there have also been decent transfer fees recouped for first-teamers.

Rangers banked a reported £2.5m from the sale of Antonio Colak to Parma, whilst Fashion Sakala’s move to Saudi club Al-Fayha is reportedly worth £4m.

If Leeds United do cough up for Glen Kamara, the money raised this summer would reach nine figures and it backs up the suggestion from Michael Beale that the club is set to break even in this window.

On top of this, as Tyler Adams prepares a move to Chelsea, the latest reports have suggested that Glen Kamara might not be the only Rangers player interesting Leeds United.
