Reported Rangers target Cameron Dawson has been speaking out about his future after claims of interest from Ibrox.
The Sheffield Wednesday stopper – and diehard Owls fan – was discussing his future with The Star.
Whilst he never touched on the reported interest from Ibrox specifically, the 24-year-old goalie pledged his heart and soul to Sheffield Wednesday.
“I just love playing football and that’s me,” said Dawson.
“I love the chance to walk out at Hillsborough and go away from home. I love being out there with the boys and that’s all I am really concentrating on at the minute.
“This is my club. I have been a bit unfortunate in that I have never seen the good days with this club.
“When I was growing up, it was the tough days of League One and scratching around in the Championship.
“I would love to be part of this club when we do get there [the Premier League]. I want to really be part of it when there is a positive time for this football club.”
Talk surrounding Dawson may well have something to do with the future of Allan McGregor.
With McGregor now 37, talk has routinely turned to players Rangers may well prime to replace the legendary stopper.
Current backup goalkeeper Wes Foderingham’s contract also expires at the end of the season and at 28 may well seek more first-team football elsewhere.Reports have surfaced regarding potential interested from DC United [Daily Mail].
But if it was down to Dawson, he would rather achieve success with his beloved Sheffield Wednesday.
