Steven Gerrard has opened up on the future of Allan McGregor, as quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times.
Earlier this week, comments made by young Gers keeper Robby McCrorie, hinted that McGregor was likely to stay on at Ibrox [Glasgow Evening Times], despite his current deal being set to expire in the summer [Transfermarkt].
Based on new information provided by the manager, it sounds as though the staff are confident of holding onto the no.1 as well.

“If Allan plays a certain amount of games then a year kicks in anyway, so there’s a bit of information for you,” said Gerrard, as quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times. “Watch this space with Allan.”
“He is in a good place, in good form and we expect him to be here next year. That is never in doubt.”
The report goes on to claim that this clause in the stopper’s contract ‘could be activated before the winter break.’
Verdict
You’d be hard-pressed to find a Bear who is disappointed with this news.
McGregor has been superb since returning for a second stint at Ibrox in the summer of 2018.
He retired from international duty last season, but it doesn’t look as though the 37-year-old has lost his appetite for the club game, as he continues to impress between the sticks.
With 17 appearances, he’s played in all but three of the Gers’ matches so far in 2019/20 and will continue in the side against Hearts on Sunday afternoon.
