Talks over who will become the next Rangers manager are now at their “final” stages with both Frank Lampard and Kevin Muscat under consideration by James Bisgrove.
That’s according to the Daily Record, who claim that both Chelsea legend Frank Lampard and Yokohama F Marinos manager Kevin Muscat were successful in an initial interview.
The report claims that Frank Lampard met with a Rangers delegation in London on Wednesday as talks over who will be the next Ibrox manager ramp up.
Japan-based Australian manager Kevin Muscat – who is a former Ibrox star – is said to have had an initial Zoom meeting on Thursday morning.
The report claims that Rangers are still said to be talking other candidates – with unpopular choice Derek McInnes under consideration – and nothing is signed, sealed and delivered just yet.
But if the Daily Record are correct, Rangers and James Bisgrove – who has been tasked with finding the club’s next manager – are ramping up talks and are in the final stages of choosing the successor.

Next Rangers manager decision a defining one at every aspect of the club
Whilst Rangers fans might take the report with a pinch of salt – after all it’s the same source who brought us links to Ryan Lowe and Billy Davies – the situation is becoming tenser by the day.
An abject showing in Cyprus against Aris Limassol has the baying Rangers support out for blood and ready to scythe through their underperforming squad at will.
Whoever comes into the job must have the guts to dismantle the leadership team at the club which has delivered consistent failure in the face of our challenges.
Whilst Kevin Muscat is probably the more popular of the two when compared to Frank Lampard, neither really excite Rangers fans as the club looks for its next manager
But should either come into the club, or should someone else take charge, then they must be willing to make tough decisions on the playing squad or they will be following Michael Beale out the door directly.
This squad has gotten two managers the sack and whilst the club got rid of its best attacking talent in the summer, it’s those that are left who continue to anchor our progress.

As for the Rangers hierarchy, whoever comes in as the next Ibrox manager will define their time at the club with the Gers overhauling the top-end structure in the summer.
James Bisgrove is an inexperienced footballing chief executive and this is the biggest – and perhaps most definitive – test of his entire career to date.
Get it wrong, then we suspect he’ll also be following Michael Beale, this squad of serial losers and the next manager out of the door too.
