New Rangers CEO James Bisgrove will lead the club’s hunt for a new manager with the spotlight shining firmly on himself and John Bennett.
According to the likes of Sky Sports, the incoming Rangers chief executive will not be travelling for the Europa League clash with AEL Limassol as the club’s hunt for a new manager continues.
James Bisgrove will be central to the appointment and – alongside John Bennett – will be staking their reputations on whoever they bring through the door in Glasgow.
The Gers raised eyebrows when they promoted the inexperienced chief executive to the top Ibrox role following the exit of Stewart Robertson as managing director in the summer.
Rangers fans had protested Robertson amid a downturn in domestic form and – alongside sporting director Ross Wilson – the Ibrox heavyweight was soon out the door.
Alongside him too was chairman Douglas Park whose apprehension in the transfer market has also been heavily criticised by Rangers fans.

James Bisgrove put to immediate new Rangers manager test
In comes the charismatic John Bennett who – in appointing ex-commercial director James Bisgrove to chief executive – is overseeing a shake-up in the background of the club.
But with neither James Bisgrove nor John Bennett being ultimately responsible for the appointment of Michael Beale, they were for his sacking and will be in finding a replacement.
That James Bisgrove is hanging back from the Europa League trip to Cyprus to focus on the new manager search at Rangers is no surprise.

If the club fail to get this appointment right then on the heads of James Bisgrove and John Bennett so be it with an early – and acid – test of their Rangers tenures already under way.
There are several names reportedly in the hat for the job at Rangers, with the latest reports suggesting the club have drawn up a shortlist of four managers so far.
