Nicolas Raskin is facing an uncertain future at Rangers despite being a first-team regular under Danny Rohl.

The Belgium international has grown from strength to strength at Ibrox and has cemented himself as one of the best midfielders in the Scottish Premiership.

Raskin will not be signing a new Rangers deal, with his current contract expiring at the end of the 2027/28 season.

Rangers make announcement of Nicolas Raskin making Belgium’s World Cup squad

Rangers announced on Friday that Raskin had been called up to Rudi Garcia’s side to represent Belgium in the World Cup.

Along with the 25-year-old, Kevin De Bruyne, Amadou Onana, Youri Tielemans, Hans Vanaken and Axel Witsel are the other midfielders included.

This means that despite Raskin’s stellar performances for Belgium, he may not be guaranteed a regular starting berth.

Is Danny Rohl’s treatment of James Tavernier a sackable offence?

He did not start Tavernier in his final Ibrox game…

However, Garcia will be aware that he’ll need decent squad depth, which is why he has opted to pick so many midfielders.

The Belgian side are in Group G, alongside Iran, Egypt, and New Zealand.

On paper, this appears to be an easy group for them, which means that there is a good chance Raskin competes in the latter stages of the competition and his pre-season return is then delayed.

Will Danny Rohl make a push to keep Raskin at Ibrox?

Raskin has been among the first names on the team sheet for Danny Rohl, and the German surely would want to keep him at Ibrox.

Rohl has spoken highly about the midfielder on numerous occasions, and he has even been tipped by the fans to become the next captain.

His being offered the armband and the Rangers manager presenting a clear blueprint of building the team around him could convince the 25-year-old to stay.

However, Raskin will wait until the end of the World Cup to see what his options are and which clubs are seriously interested in securing his services.

He has been linked with Premier League clubs in the past and they could once again become options for him should he have a good tournament in the United States.

As of now, Rohl can assure him that he sees him as an important part of the club’s future.
