Keith Jackson has discussed the situation involving Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin and the growing interest in his services.
The 25-year-old has become a regular for the Belgium national team and is expected to be a starter at the upcoming World Cup.
Rangers are aware of the interest in Raskin, and interest could soar in the midfielder should he do well this summer.
Nicolas Raskin has been linked with a Rangers exit…
Keith Jackson does not expect Nicolas Raskin to sign a new contract
The Daily Record journalist does not expect Raskin to put pen to paper on a new deal at Ibrox.
In his view, if he did, the club would look to make him the captain, with James Tavernier leaving.
However, he does not see that happening and believes that the club would want him to have a good World Cup and see his valuation increase.
Who should Danny Rohl name as the next captain? Let us know in the comments!
In his view, they would look to part ways with him if he wanted to leave in the summer, for a fee north of £20m.
This is something that Charlie Adam suggested as well, and Jackson agrees with it.
He told Daily Record’s Hotline: “As things are, he’s entering his last year. I don’t think he’ll sign a new contract.
“So you just let him go to the World Cup, I think, and you just hope he’s had a really strong tournament and his value will just soar.
“If he’d sign a new contract, I’d give him the armband tomorrow, but I think that’s unlikely now.
“I think this is the summer he decides it’s in his best interest to move on. I think the number involved, Charlie Adam is not far off when he says upwards of £20m.”

Can Rangers convince Raskin to stay?
Rangers have dealt with such situations in the past where players have used them as a springboard to move to play in bigger leagues after two or three years.
There is already interest in Raskin, and a good World Cup with Belgium will only see that increase.
The Gers would like him to stay, but they also know that his valuation may never be as high as it would be this summer.
It could be the perfect time to demand a lot more than they value him at and spark a potential bidding war.
While it would not be ideal for Danny Rohl, he knows that this is the reality he is living in.
