Over 1,600 Rangers fans cast their votes on who the next club captain will be amid the uncertainty of James Tavernier’s future.

The Light Blues supporters interacted with the TalkingPoints poll and gave their reasons for the ideal candidate to lead the club forward.

The captaincy has become a talking point among the fanbase as Tavernier could leave Rangers, with no talks being held thus far over an extension on his current contract that runs out in the summer.

Over 77 per cent of the fans want Nico Raskin as the next captain

Over 77 per cent of the Rangers fans who engaged with the poll have decided that Nicolas Raskin is the ideal candidate to become the next captain.

Danny Rohl has spoken highly about Raskin’s leadership, and that certainly will be an important reason why the supporters seem to trust the 25-year-old to lead the club.

Since moving to Ibrox, the midfielder has gone from strength to strength, becoming a regular for the Belgium national team as well.

Raskin has an incredible record for his national team and is likely to be a regular starter for them at the World Cup as well.

Being named captain following the competition would undoubtedly make his summer.

Nicolas Raskin has been linked with a Rangers exit…

What does the future hold for Raskin at Rangers?

Raskin faced an uncertain future at Ibrox at the start of the season as Russell Martin did not seem to rate the Belgian.

The midfielder himself came out recently in an interview and said that Martin expected him to play in a new position and adapt right away.

Once he saw Raskin struggling, he told him that he wanted to leave, but the Belgium international stayed put and fought his way back into the team.

Now, he seems to be happy and settled at Ibrox, but interest in his services is not expected to reduce.

The 25-year-old’s deal at the club does not run out until 2028, so Rangers are under no pressure to sell him this summer.

However, should he do well at the World Cup, the Gers will expect to field enquiries, but as things stand, Raskin sees himself at Ibrox for next season.
