Rangers move for Jose Cifuentes has gone a little quiet as Michael Beale looks to tie up a deal before any last-minute bids from big-money sides ruin what would be a sizeable coup.

The 24-year old midfield dynamo would be an outstanding acquisition but, after Fabrizio Romano revealed that a deal is imminent, there hasn’t been much movement.

First to confirm the signings of Kieran Dowell and Dujon Sterling, the Four Lads Had a Dream blog has now revealed what Rangers will have to pay for Jose Cifuentes, if they want him sooner, rather than later.

The Ecuadorian international is available on a pre-contract agreement from the 1st of July, which might complicate how smooth negotiations are.

All it would take is Brighton or Newcastle to renew their interest and terms that are said to be close to completion become a lot more awkward to resolve.

Rangers fee for Jose Cifuentes revealed for early deal

Should Rangers press on to sign Jose Cifuentes asap though, Stevie Clifford from Four Lads Had a Dream has given the figure that it would take:

“As for Jose Cifuentes that is one I have discussed before and previous reports indicate on the way to concluding, Rangers keen to have the player arrive this summer with a deal of around £750k-£1.5m being mentioned.

“I think it’s fair to say once Fabrizio Romano talks about it online you know there is a truth to it.”

The figure mentioned is one that the blogger must be privy too because there hasn’t been anything speculated in the press as to how much Cifuentes would cost.

Previously reported in connection with a £6m move to the Premier League, anything around what we paid for Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin to get him across the pond now makes a lot of sense.

It might be paying out money for someone who we could get for free, however, it reduces the risk of missing out and it means that he would arrive before pre-season training rather than, potentially, missing the Champions League qualifiers.

Cantwell and Raskin have proven to be money well spent, hopefully, Cifuentes is next.
