Rangers have signed a gem in Dujon Sterling, the Cheslea academy graduate being persuaded by Michael Beale to commit to the Ibrox outfit.

The gaffer’s second signing of the season before May is out and the season done is impressive work and more appear to be in the pipeline – Jose Cifuentes and Jack Butland favourites to be next.04

Rangers targeted Dujon Sterling for obvious reasons; age, ability, potential and it is clear from Chelsea’s youth Twitter page that we have secured a gem.

‘A terrific young player, integral to so much academy success on and off the pitch, who has grown into a versatile and reliable pro and who has overcome his fair share of recent adversity. Best of luck Duj!”

Dujon Sterling scored in two FA youth cup finals in a row for Chelsea against Manchester City, it might not be the biggest stage but it shows that he can be trusted and was held in high regard, a genuine “history maker”.

The qualities needed to be a Rangers player include so much more than technical ability and Sterling appears to have character in abundance.

Chelsea don’t hand out appearances on the cheap and the 23-year old has made the first team for the Stamford Bridge outfit

There is no shame in not ousting players like Reece James or Cesar Azpilaqueta from in front off him.

As touched on by Chelsea Youth, Dujon Sterling’s versatility for Rangers will see him get plenty game time.

Covering for James Tavernier, playing at centre-half an even at left-back should see him be a regular feature under Michael Beale.

On a free transfer and with other clubs interested, the Ges boss has done a great job signing such a promising player so early, some might say,he’s done a Sterling job….
