Jose Cifuentes is close to being a Rangers player, every reliable source has made the same claim.

The 24-year old Ecuador international has played his final game for Los Angeles FC and, if his social media post is anything to go by, has said his farewells.

With Jack Butland signed, sealed and announced, Jose Cifuentes could be next for Rangers as Fabrizio Romano’s acquaintance, The 4th Official and The Herald have revealed.

Rumours about work permit delays and a transfer fee holding up the deal appear to be nothing but that.

Jose Cifuentes deal for Rangers helps Beale’s squad plan

Writing on their Patreon site, The 4th Official has teased that the Light Blues faithful won’t have long to bite their nails before signing number four is confirmed:

“Also, before I end the column, just wanted to tell you all that the wait for Jose Cifuentes should end very soon for Rangers fans.”

Michael Beale has done a power of early work already this transfer window and it isn’t even open yet.

The pieces of his Rangers squad jigsaw appear to be taking shape nicely with only the obvious area yet to be addressed.

Should Jose Cifuentes be confirmed in the coming days, the Gers gaffer will have more time to reflect on who out of his current squad can be allowed to leave.

With Todd Cantwell, Nicolas Raskin and Kieran Dowell already signed, Cifuentes arrival would mean an almost entirely new midfield has been acquired with only Scott Arfield departing.

It doesn’t take a genius to work out that Rangers will need to move a few bodies out the door over the summer to clear the decks and free up money on the wage bill.

Jose Cifuentes has been linked with Premier League teams in the not-too-distant past, Rangers signing him will be a coup.

It’s just a matter of patience now.
