Both of Rangers’ loan stars, Neraysho Kasanwirjo and Vaclav Cerny, have made big impressions early this season.

Unfortunately for the Dutch defender he is now out for up to six months with a serious knee injury picked up on international duty and has been sent back to Feyenoord to do his rehab.

It means he may not kick another ball for Gers this season after just 12 appearances in the early part of his loan from the Eredivisie side.

But what happens thereafter?

Rangers have an option to buy the 22-year-old permanently as part of the loan deal that brought him to Glasgow so that still remains a live option despite the injury.

Will Rangers still took to sign Neraysho Kasanwirjo permanently?

Well, the answer to that question is yes, according the The Daily Mail.

Philippe Clement viewed the Netherlands under-21s star’s versatility as a big plus having played him at right-back, centre half and left-back.

Kasanwirjo had even forced himself in ahead of captain James Tavernier at times and the report states that the club were confident he could start to nail down a place as a regular starter.

For that reason, they are not closing the door on a permanent deal and will not give up on their option to buy.

Kasanwirjo a ‘quality’ Rangers option

Recruitment guru turned technical director Nils Koppen was involved in the signing and knew of Kasanwirjo from his time in the Netherlands.

Upon confirmation of the deal, he insisted the club were bringing in a player of quality.

Koppen told the Rangers website: “I would like to welcome Neraysho to Rangers and we are delighted he has joined our squad.

“He is someone I was aware of from my time in the Netherlands and we believe he has the quality and the right character to play for this club.

“He is someone who can easily adapt to new surroundings and will bring great energy to the team.”

Philippe Clement added: “We are thrilled to welcome Neraysho to the football club and we believe he will be a big asset to the team.

“He can play in a number of defensive positions and will be a good option for the squad with the domestic and European commitments we have this campaign.

“He is looking forward to starting the next chapter in his career and we are pleased Neraysho has decided to join Rangers.”

The player himself talked about his own future after impressing in some early appearances and also shining for his nations under-21s with two assists in one game.

He hinted he would be open to a permanent Rangers stay.

“I was well received in Scotland,” Kasanwirjo said, as quoted by Voetbal Primuer. “The coach is very direct and I need that.

“Feyenoord next year? Who knows…”
