Highly-rated Oldham centre half George Edmundson has had a medical at Ibrox with a view to making a move to Rangers.
According to the Daily Record, Edmundson is also expected to sign on before joining the squad at their pre-season training camp in Portugal.
The dominant 21-year-old defender has been the subject of transfer interest from Ibrox throughout the summer period.
And after the club reportedly had two bids rejected originally, a third and final reported offer of £650k was accepted.
Edmundson, who made the League Two Team of the Year, had made it clear that he wanted to sign for Rangers [Daily Record] despite reported interest from the likes of Portsmouth and Peterborough.
The aggressive defender will provide competition to Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson at the heart of that Rangers defence.
Rangers will still be on the hunt for another centre back too – they need to sign to replace the outgoing Joe Worrall and Gareth McAuley.
Should Edmundson have passed the medical and sign on the dotted line, he will become Rangers’ sixth signing of a productive summer.

Rangers have also signed Jordan Jones, Steven Davis, Jake Hastie, Greg Stewart and Sheyi Ojo as Steven Gerrard looks to build a side capable of challenging Celtic.
And should everything go to plan, the Gers gaffer could also have a seventh name through the doors at Ibrox before the club jets off to Portugal this weekend.
