Plymouth Argyle loanee Nikola Katic is never shy in nailing his Rangers colours to the mast.

Even after the Bosnian international, 28, put in a Man of the Match display against Liverpool was the centre-back referencing his love of the Ibrox club.

Nikola Katic went viral for a hilarious post-match interview after Plymouth stunned the Premier League leaders in the FA Cup.

Goading ex-Celtic star Conor Hazard about his Rangers allegiances, Katic’s expletive-laden post-match interview has seen the defender earn instant cult hero status with the Pilgrims.

But speaking to the Championship outfit’s social media team, Nikola Katic has once again reiterated his love of Rangers after being clear he hopes to one day return to Ibrox.

Nikola Katic tells Plymouth fans he supports Rangers

Nikola Katic responded ‘Rangers’ when asked by the Plymouth social media team what football club he supports.

The ex-Slaven Bepulo defender also named Real Madrid as one of the teams he support, with the Spanish club’s 10th Champions League title his best experience as a fan.

The former Rangers defender spent four years at Ibrox between 2018 and 2022, the latter half of which was interrupted by a loan move to Hajduk Split after suffering an ACL injury.

Rangers have left an indelible mark on the towering 6ft4 defender and Katic also named former Gers teammate Borna Barisic as his best friend in football.

Having moved to FC Zurich after leaving Ibrox, this is the defender’s first foray back into British football since his time at Rangers came to an end.

Nikola Katic has unfinished business at Rangers

Rangers were linked with a January move for Nikola Katic prior to the centre-back signing on at Plymouth Argyle on loan.

Katic joins Plymouth’s Bosnian manager Miron Muslic and will look to haul the Championship strugglers off the foot of the table in the second half of the season.

But prior to the switch to Home Park, sources close to Katic had reportedly suggested he’d be open to a return to Rangers before the Gers brought in Rafael Fernandes on loan from Lille.

The defender has previously suggested he has unfinished business at Ibrox and told former Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson the club will snap him up.

Speaking to the Athletic in 2022 Katic said: “I will always have a connection to Rangers.

“I said to (sporting director) Ross Wilson on my last day that I’ll see him in two years when he buys me back!”

On his Rangers exit, the defender added: “They said we were to come back at maybe 80 per cent of our fitness but I was obsessed with my body fat as I wanted to come back 100 per cent.

”Day one was about me trying to prove myself to Van Bronckhorst. It’s nothing bad but I felt I didn’t get a chance as we didn’t communicate.

“I asked his coaches whether they could walk me through their requests and what they expect from their defenders, but I didn’t think they were that interested and I never got that information.”
