Ex-Rangers striker Ryan Hardie netted the only goal of the game as Plymouth Argyle recorded a legendary FA Cup victory over Liverpool.

Arne Slot’s red hot Merseysiders are top of the Premier League and finished this season’s Champions League league phase top of the 32-strong pile.

But after ringing the changes at Home Park they were no match for Milon Mursic’s Pilgrims as Rangers and Celtic stars of old reunited in a special FA Cup victory.

Ryan Hardie sends Liverpool out the FA Cup

Ryan Hardie will be the toast of the English south coast this evening after scoring the only goal for Plymouth in a 1-0 win over Liverpool.

The former Rangers striker came through at the Ibrox club’s academy and has been with Plymouth Argyle since first moving to the club in 2020 on an initial loan deal from Blackpool.

But despite spending almost five years at Plymouth Argyle this was the ex-Rangers hitman’s crowning moment with the Pilgrims.

Ryan Hardie took full advantage of Harvey Elliot’s second half handball to net from the spot and record a famous Plymouth victory over Liverpool.

The result means Liverpool’s rampant charge towards a quadruple has now come to an end, with the Reds also set to face Newcastle United in the English League Cup Final at Wembley.

Nikola Katic and ex-Celtic star shine for Plymouth

Ryan Hardie wasn’t the only ex-Rangers star in action for Plymouth in the win over Liverpool either.

Ex-Rangers defender Nikola Katic was also in the running for Man of the Match in the famous victory after a monumental performance at the heart of the Plymouth defence.

Plymouth’s goalkeeper is also ex-Celtic stopper Conor Hazard, who managed to keep a clean sheet to record the famous win over Premier League outfit Liverpool.

The result is undoubtedly the biggest upset of the FA Cup weekend and Plymouth will now progress to the sixth round at the expense of Liverpool.
