As gathering reports suggest Rangers have launched a move for Feyenoord striker Danilo, it would suggest the pursuit of Cremonese forward Cyriel Dessers may now be dead.
The latest suggests the Ibrox side have had a bid rejected for Brazilian striker Danilo, who has just picked up an Eredivisie winner’s medal with Feyenoord in the Netherlands.
Having been picked up on a free following the expiration of his contract at Ajax only last summer, Rangers will need to pay to strike a deal for the forward and the latest suggests negotiations, and formal bidding, is well under way.
But the apparent approach for Feyenoord striker Danilo comes against the backdrop of high-profile interest in Nigerian international forward Cyriel Dessers.
There have also been suggestions aplenty that Rangers have bid for the ex-KRC Genk striker, who was born in Belgium and once himself played for Feyenoord, but recently any optimism around a deal has began to wane.

The latest reports have suggested confidence is low a deal to bring Cyriel Dessers to Rangers could be struck with Danilo named as the Ibrox side’s first choice striker alternative in the wake of those Dessers doubts.
This was as the Gers were linked with a loan move for Brighton forward Abdallah Sima, the suggestion being that Hacken forward Benie Traore is the Danilo in the club’s pursuit of now Serie B striker Cyriel Dessers to the club’s pursuit of Sima.
Now, all the premonitions of those would-be tabloid Nostradamuses are coming to fruition, with reports in the Netherlands suggesting Rangers have turned their striker attentions to Danilo.
Not that all is said and done as things stand, with Feyenoord holding firm and little information available regarding the structure of Rangers’ initial offer.
We know how these things work though and if all parties are interested in securing a deal, then Rangers might just have a new Brazilian talisman at Ibrox next season.
