Jermain Defoe will be allowed to leave Premier League Bournemouth in January, at least according to Sky Sports.
And it may yet alert Rangers who were linked to the striker by the Scottish Sun back in May.
Defoe may be 36, but the Sky Sports report comments on the thoughts of Bournemouth Manager Eddie Howe on Defoe’s professionalism.

Howe is impressed with how Defoe looks after himself but cannot give him game time in a competitive Bournemouth side.
Rangers are on the hunt for a striker after Umar Sadiq was sent back to AS Roma. The 21-year-old Nigerian forward struggled to make the grade at Ibrox.

Kyle Lafferty has also struggled to find the net at Rangers. This has meant an over-reliance on the combative Alfredo Morelos. There is also a fight for the signature of Dominic Solanke.
One major stumbling block for any potential move could be the striker’s wages. Jermain Defoe is on a reported £65k a week with the Cherries and would need to take a serious wage cut to come to Ibrox.

Given that 34 year old Steven Davis has reportedly did something similar to join, it’s not outwith the realms of possibility.
Especially when you consider the success Defoe could have should he join the club’s chase for 55. He’s unlikely to get it elsewhere.
Would you take the former West Ham, Tottenham, Portsmouth, Toronto and Sunderland striker at Rangers?
