High profile Rangers star Ianis Hagi has been earmarked to kickstart the Lecce reign of Italian manager Roberto D’Aversa after his appointment at the Serie A club.
According to Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport’s transfer blog [02/07, 9:06am], Lecce are legitimately interested in a move for the returning Rangers playmaker.

Moreover, the Italian side have made Ianis Hagi the “great goal” of their summer transfer window with the Romanian international earmarked to spearhead Lecce’s new-look 4-3-3 under their new manager.
The claims come after the former Fiorentina talent was linked with a shock move to Aberdeen back in Romania, the report in question also claiming that the likes of Espanyol, Lecce and Galatasaray were tailing the player.
Whilst the Aberdeen links to the 24-year-old have since been rubbished, the claims from Gazzetta appear to suggest that Lecce interest in Ianis Hagi is indeed legitimate.
A translated excerpt from the publication’s transfer blog reads:
“A son of art in Salento. Ianis Hagi is the great goal of the Lecce manager: the young Romanian, owned by Rangers, would be the first name to be included in Roberto D’Aversa’s 4-3-3.“
Ianis Hagi earmarked to spearhead new-look Lecce
That might well be an interesting proposition for Ianis Hagi, who is at an interesting juncture in his Rangers career having just returned from a devastating cruciate ligament injury.
The Gers lost the midfielder for the best part of a season-and-a-half due to the knee issue which coincided with a devastating domestic downturn and Hagi missing the Europa League Final.

Now working his way back to fitness, Ianis Hagi will face stiff competition to get back into the Rangers side next season and back to the level that he previously displayed before the serious injury.
The thought of rocking up as the first name on the Lecce team sheet might well appeal to Ianis Hagi next season and let’s see if the Italians choose to test Rangers’ resolve with a bid.
