Reports linking Scottish Premiership rivals Aberdeen with a move for Rangers playmaker Ianis Hagi have been shot down in flames in the northeast.
Local Aberdeen outlet the Press and Journal have claimed that talk of a Pittodrie switch for the 24-year-old are wide of the mark after the shock claims emerged this week.

The report claims that Ianis Hagi is not on Aberdeen’s “transfer radar” this summer in claims which will be of no surprise to Rangers supporters who laughed off the earlier reports.
It comes after Romanian outlet Sport had claimed that the Dons were one of four sides currently tailing the Rangers attacking midfielder, who is returning from a serious cruciate ligament injury.
Aberdeen were linked to Ianis Hagi alongside Serie A side Lecce, Liga Segunda side Espanyol and Super Lig giants Galatasaray, the Turks being the Romanian’s boyhood club and one of his father Gheorghe’s former clubs.
The original story claims that the clubs are interested in striking a loan-to-buy deal with Rangers this summer, with the Ibrox side wanting £3.5m (€4m) for the player.
Aberdeen links to Ianis Hagi rubbished
Rangers began to saw flashes of the Ianis Hagi they lost towards the end the season, with the Romanian international even nabbing a goal in the end-of-season victory over Hibs.
A key player before the injury, Rangers negotiated a new contract with the once highly-rated talent last season which is set to keep him at Ibrox until 2026.
It would suggest that Rangers view Ianis Hagi as an important player heading into the new campaign and we’d be very surprised to see the playmaker leave at all, let alone to Aberdeen, in this window.

Rangers initially signed Ianis Hagi on loan from KRC Genk in Belgium in January 2020 before making the deal permanent the following summer.
The attacking midfielder has gone on to make 96 appearances for the Gers, scoring 16 goals and laying on 21 assists.
