There isn’t a single football club in the world that gets every transfer right, like Rangers, the secret is getting more right than wrong.
The margin for error decreases when there is a greater need for success and this is where Nils Koppen and his recruitment team find themselves.
After selling five players for £800,000 last summer, another exodus will be required when the window reopens but more money will need to be brought in.
What Rangers also have to do, and what Celtic do very well, is move players on who aren’t a good fit without losing any money, and in some cases, still manage to make a profit.
One such individual is Nedim Bajrami, a £3.5m signing who has found himself surplus to requirements since Barry Ferguson took over as Rangers manager.

Nedim Bajrami not happy with lack of minutes for Rangers
What might go in Bajrami’s favour, is that Nicolas Raskin and Mohamed Diomande have shown how important patience is.
A change of manager could well see the Albanian international become the player it looked like he was capable of being.
Speaking to Telesport, Bajrami was asked about his current lack of minutes:
“It’s true that with the changes made to the management at my club, I’ve had fewer minutes,” said the 26-year old who has featured in just over 100 minutes since Ferguson replaced Philippe Clement.
“I started the first six months well at Rangers, but that’s part of football.
“I’m always ready and I’ve always trained hard.”
Bajrami’s best football has come on the left-hand side for Rangers, despite it not being his favourite position.
Centrally, he has been guilty of taking too many touches, however, his football intelligence and technical ability isn’t in doubt.
What does Bajrami have to do to turn Rangers career around?
In both the Premier Sports Cup final and the new year Old Firm win at Ibrox, Bajrami was instrumental in nullifying Callum McGregor and carried out his instructions to perfection.
The issue, has been his lack of goals and assists given his role as a No.10 or wide attacker, he has also been substituted three times at half-time.
Vaclav Cerny, with 17 goals and 7 assists, has set the standard.
The 32-times capped international will either have to adapt, or be sold and replaced, but it doesn’t look like he is going to get the chance to impress with Ferguson in charge.
