Rangers are considering German manager David Wagner after sacking Philippe Clement.
The Gers are on the hunt for a new manager after sacking the 51-year-old Belgian from his role at Ibrox following a disastrous domestic season.
All attentions are now focused on who Rangers might look to in order to replace Philippe Clement with Barry Ferguson the current frontrunner.
But now two journalists are reporting that ex-Huddersfield and Norwich City manager David Wagner is in the discussions at Ibrox.
David Wagner being considered by Rangers
Rangers are reportedly considering a surprise move for 53-year-old German manager David Wagner, who has experience in the Germany, Switzerland and England.
That’s according to journalist Ben Jacobs, who claims Wagner is ‘under consideration’ by the Rangers board with regards the vacant role at Ibrox.
Writing for Give Me Sport, Jacobs claims that any move for Wagner could depend on a proposed deal for club legend Barry Ferguson falling apart.
The apparent interest in David Wagner has been backed up by TalkSPORT journalist Alex Crook, who has suggested the ex-Schalke and Young Boys coach is being considered as ‘long-term’ option.
Crook has also backed up suggestions a return for Steven Gerrard is ‘unlikely’ at this moment in time.
David Wagner has been out of work since being sacked by Norwich City after semi-final Championship playoff defeat to Leeds United at the end of last season.
Rangers turn attentions to Barry Ferguson
Rangers had reportedly held initial talks with Steven Gerrard and Sean Dyche over the manager’s role but now attentions have turned to Barry Ferguson.
It’s being claimed that CEO Patrick Stewart will meet with Ferguson today to discuss an interim coaching team that will see the Gers through until the end of the season.
Rangers fans are split on a move for Ferguson but there can be no denying the former midfielder’s commitment to the Ibrox cause.

Barry Ferguson lifted 15 trophies as a player at Rangers and captained the club to the 2008 UEFA Cup Final in Manchester.
Whatever the case, Rangers are not expected to have an interim appointment in place before Wednesday night’s trip to Kilmarnock.
Moroccan coach Issame Charai is expected to take charge of Rangers for the trip to Rugby Park.
