Rangers are yet to announce Danny Rohl’s move to Red Bull Salzburg, but the German has already been shortlisted at a UEFA Champions League club.
After days of speculation, Sky Sports confirmed on Monday that Rangers and Salzburg have completed a deal for Rohl to take the reins at the Austrian club.
The Light Blues are due to receive £2million in compensation, as they now work with Hearts to finalise Derek McInnes’ move to Govan.
Although Andrew Cavenagh insisted that the Gers will go into the new season with Rohl at the helm, the chairman did not stand in his way when Salzburg – driven by Jurgen Klopp – came calling.
Now that Danny Rohl seems set to leave Rangers, how would you rate his time at the club?
Rohl is wanted at another club already
Rohl will be tasked with bringing back glory to Salzburg after the Austrian heavyweights only finished third in the Bundesliga last season.
However, the 37-year-old may not have a long-term future in Wals-Siezenheim.
This is because RB Leipzig are ‘already eyeing Rohl’ as their future long-term head coach, according to Leipziger Volkszeitung.
Red Bull’s flagship and Salzburg’s sister club, Leipzig, are also facing managerial uncertainty, with the German regional daily reporting that Ole Werner is facing the sack.

Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schafer is set to meet Werner, who was appointed last July, this week to discuss the latter’s exit.
The German club have zeroed in on Martin Demichelis as Werner’s successor, with the bosses favouring the former Manchester City defender.
However, Rohl is being viewed as a potential successor to the successor. His name is said to be on an extended list of candidates to succeed at Leipzig.
What would your concerns be about Derek McInnes replacing Danny Rohl?
Jurgen Klopp a huge fan of departing Rangers head coach
Rohl is being lined up for the hot seat at Red Bull’s flagship club already, thanks to Klopp.
The Liverpool icon played a key role in Salzburg poaching the 37-year-old from Rangers, but his admiration does not end there.
After strongly advocating for Rohl, Red Bull’s global head of soccer potentially views him as a long-term option at Leipzig.
It would be a surprise if this prospect were not discussed during talks between Rohl and Salzburg.
