Ewen Cameron storms off STV set after heated Derek McInnes to Rangers debate

Ewen Cameron walked out of an STV show set as tensions boiled over amid a heated debate about Derek McInnes joining Rangers.

McInnes took little time to become a fan favourite at Tynecastle despite only being appointed as the Hearts boss last May, leading them to within touching distance of Premiership glory in the recently concluded season.

However, the 54-year-old, who is considered the best Scottish tactician around, is set to leave the Jambos to take the reins at Rangers, with his current employers only getting a six-figure sum as compensation.

This is a huge blow to the Jambos, who have already seen captain Lawrence Shankland make the move to Govan, that too on a free transfer, thanks to a secret clause in his contract.

What would your concerns be about Derek McInnes replacing Danny Rohl?

Hearts fan Cameron hits out at ‘shambolic’ McInnes before walking off

Assessing the situation, Cameron pointed out that he was happy to see Shankland get his dream move to Rangers after spending four years of great service at Tynecastle, but admitted his annoyance at McInnes’ departure.

The STV host insisted that McInnes should have shown loyalty to Hearts after what the Edinburgh-based club have done for his managerial career.

In his view, the former Kilmarnock boss should have stayed at Hearts for at least one more year.

Cameron then went further, admitting that he is furious with the way the manager is leaving the club, which he described as “shambolic” and “embarrassing”.

Speaking on the STV Radio Football Show, he said: “He doesn’t get that gig without Hearts. Hearts have made Derek McInnes.

“He doesn’t get one of the biggest jobs in Scottish football without Hearts. He at least should have stayed for another year. He should have stayed for another year.

“I’m p***** off. We put him back on the map. He is getting a Rangers job because of what he’s done at Hearts.

“He should have shown us a wee bit more loyalty and stayed for at least one more season and told Rangers.

“To walk out on the club the way that he has done, I think, is shambolic and it’s embarrassing.”

Ronnie Charters and Callum Bell, though, were quick to call their co-host out, with the latter describing him as a “child”.

Meanwhile, Charters said, “10 minutes ago you were saying how you thank him for X, Y, and Z. You’re all over the place.

“And I get why you’re all over the place because your club’s all over the place at the moment. You’ve lost your captain. You’ve lost your manager.”

This led to Cameron asking for the show to be ended, before removing his headphones and walking off the set.

Reacting to the incident, Charters said, “Oh, look! Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve got the first walkout [of the show], and it isn’t even done yet.

“Wow! The bosses will love that, you! Well done, son.”

Now that Danny Rohl seems set to leave Rangers, how would you rate his time at the club?

Rangers may raid Hearts again

It is easy to understand why Cameron is so frustrated, with McInnes set to follow in Shankland’s footsteps by making the switch to Ibrox.

However, the STV Radio host may be in for harder days, as the Light Blues may raid the Jambos again this summer.

Cameron himself revealed that the Glasgwegian outfit are interested in signing Cammy Devlin on a free transfer.

Meanwhile, there have been suggestions that McInnes has set his sights on bringing Claudio Braga with him once his appointment is confirmed.
