Chris Jack has delivered an update on Danny Rohl’s future at Rangers amid links to Austrian side RB Salzburg.

Rangers have held talks over Rohl’s exit with Salzburg despite the German being backed by the owners at the end of the season.

Rangers News understands that there is no release clause in his contract, which means that the two sides will need to agree on a fee for him to leave Ibrox.

Danny Rohl is not pushing for an exit

Writing in the Rangers Review, Jack has claimed that despite talks being held, Rohl is not the one who is pushing to leave the club.

Initial contact has been made, but it has come from Salzburg and not the German angling for a move away from Ibrox.

Rohl has already begun his plans for next season and sanctioned a move to bring Lawrence Shankland to the club.

Who do you see replacing him?

He has also been an active part of discussions surrounding the recruitment and looked all set to return for pre-season training.

Andrew Cavenagh has backed Rohl despite the struggles last season, but is not likely to stand in his way.

The Light Blues will be compensated well should the German reach an agreement with the Red Bull-owned club.

What does Rohl’s exit mean for Rangers?

It will be back to the drawing board for Rangers should Rohl leave.

Instead of focusing on new signings, they will then need to look at who would be the manager to be in charge of the first team next season.

Derek McInnes could emerge as a target as he has been previously linked with the Gers hot seat.

Also, with Shankland joining and the duo sharing a good understanding from their time at Tynecastle, a reunion at Ibrox could be an interesting prospect.

In case he does not want to leave Hearts, the hierarchy could turn to Steven Gerrard again and bring him back.

As the Liverpool legend is out of a job, should he be willing, the saga is not expected to take long, and everything could be finalised within a week to have him appointed in time for pre-season.
